For some reason, I'm unable to refresh folders on the school's IMAP server (be it by switching folders, using right-click-->Refresh, or the F12 key). I get:

evolution-mail-WARNING **: Failed to refresh folder 'ETS:
        INBOX': Error syncing changes: Command Argument Error. 11

...which is really not descriptive as an error. I have no idea what it means and how to troubleshoot it. I tried restarting evolution, even with a "--force-shutdown", and the error persists for the time being (maybe it'll go away after a while).

It should also be noted that this error has an extra line break at the end, so it looks bad in the infobar (see attached screenshot).

Thanks for a bug report. The error message has an extra line break, because it is the verbatim copy of the error message as returned by your server. You can debug this when you run evolution like this:
    $ CAMEL_DEBUG=imapx:io evolution
You'll see there what evolution sends to the server and what the server returns.

One possible issue, do you have turned on Quick Resync? It's in account properties, on the Receiving Options tab. I would try to disable it, in case it is enabled.

In any case, the log should give more information what could be wrong.

Hi Milan, rediscovered this bug report of mine... but turns out I re-reported it with more relevant info (including the requested debug log file) in bug #735191
