Description Magdalen Berns (irc magpie) 2014-05-14 11:04:57 UTC
Given that Ke Wang only did one commit since adding himself in 2011.

I think it is fair to assume he is no longer interested in maintaining this module and that he should be removed as a maintainer (so that people are not confused), accordingly.

Let me know if this is a problem.

Remove Ke Wang from current maintainer list

Review of attachment 276521 [details] [review]:

Although we added people to the maintainers list without asking, in the end was just offering some help there on an almost abandoned module. But I feel somewhat uncomfortable to remove someone from the maintainer list without their knowledge, as that is more intrusive, IMHO. So not sure if we should ping him before doing that. Opinions?

I agree with you, that seems the right thing to do but, is there a way to contact him?

Update: Tried emailing the address on there and it does not exist.

Closing with https://git.gnome.org/browse/java-atk-wrapper/commit/?id=dca347d27dc4ce0eb8dd52af2ce4fcd90a5a8bda

This bug took so long to resolve that the doap itself became invalid in that time. Accordingly, I validated the doap whilst I was at it.

In future please bare in mind that stuff like that wastes other people's time.

My intention was never that. I was just being conservative to avoid removing him as maintainer if not needed. In general maintainers doesn't like to be removed their status without a good reason. I don't see sending some mails and waiting some time for response as a waste of time, more if we take into account that this change was not preventing any development at all. Anyway, at this point, as he didn't answer after some months, I agree that it should be safe to be remove him from the list. Thanks for this update, and the format doap file update.

I guess it's a matter of perspective whether this is a good reason but Ke Wang's last commit was in 2011-05-26 and that was the only commit made by him in 2011. Besides that, the contact email doesn't work. He has clearly done lots of work in the past but in my view, the maintainer information is more like the information in the TODO file: it is only useful to people, if it is kept up to date. People only look at the maintainers when they want to contact the maintainer, I would imagine. In general, when reference information is not correct, this confuses people.
