I found that if the jpeg photo is shot with apeture "B" when open this jpeg file,  then GIMP will hang.   I also found that it was hang on the metadata plugin.    

I can open other jpeg files without any problem.

Then please attach the file to this bugreport. This would make it possible to reproduce the bug.

There used to be a bug open about this exact problem with the Blurb setting.
