Video demonstrating the problem

Original report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1311928

Since upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04, the 'Select Items Matching' functionality is broken - it only selects the first file matching the pattern, instead of all.

Setting the version according to the video.

I don't see this bug using nautilus 3.12.0 (in Fedora 20 with rhughes/f20-gnome-3-12 COPR.)
Comment 2 Vadim Peretokin 2014-05-03 20:10:38 UTC
Sorry, yeah, I forgot to setup the right version.

Should be marked as NEW. Hits me too (ubuntu 14.04.1), Nautilus 3.10.1.
Is there a fix from 3.12.0 available to be backported to 3.10.1?

So far, this bug has only been confirmed by Ubuntu users. Ubuntu ships a modified nautilus, so I'm not even sure this bug even existed in GNOME's nautilus code.

Also, GNOME developers are no longer working on nautilus 3.10, so I ask for a fix on ubuntu's bug tracker.

Can anyone reproduce this bug in a more newer version of nautilus?
Comment 6 Sebastien Bacher 2015-01-05 17:14:11 UTC
the launchpad bug has this comment

"such behavior occurs only in "list mode", and matching works in "icon mode""

did anyone try in list view on other distributions?
Comment 7 Julien Olivier 2015-02-11 22:49:17 UTC
I've just tested it with Nautilus 3.14.1 from the Gnome Staging PPA ( https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3-staging ) and the bug is still there is list view.
Comment 8 Julien Olivier 2015-02-11 22:52:14 UTC
And it works fine in Nautilus 3.12.2 from Debian.
Comment 9 Sebastien Bacher 2015-02-19 09:48:23 UTC
right, that seems due to the patch from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=681871 that ubuntu has to restore typeahead
