Description smikims.me 2014-04-21 14:58:21 UTC
Sometimes when I click the power off option from the menu, when the dialog appears with the Cancel, Restart, and Power Off options, the screen behind the dialog goes completely black. Selecting Cancel and then making the dialog appear again, however, yields the proper background. This usually seems to happen when making it appear shortly after bootup/login.

This is likely a driver issue with the shader effect the lightbox now uses. What hardware/drivers are you using? Do you see problems elsewhere?

I'm using Intel graphics (Sandy Bridge HD3000) and no, no problems elsewhere. The weird thing is that the shading effect works fine the second time around, just sometimes it doesn't the first time.

I experience this bug too. ATI Mobility Radeon 3200, with the open-source radeon driver. Arch Linux, fully updated.

I think this bug produces several errors. Actually, it's on error printed about 10 times (I do hope they came from this bug). I found it in Logs:

gnome-session:
Message: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Priority: 2

Me too, but only with disabled animations.

In my case, background is sometimes OK immediately after disabling animations, until I logout or restart gnome-shell.
I don't see anything in logs.

100% reproducible on virtual machines and Intel GMA x4500.
