Even after playing several videos, no entries appear in the “Recent” tab, even though the videos are tracked in the Nautilus “Recent“ view.

It's not really the "Recent" tab. It's a combination of:
- optical discs
- Tracker indexed videos (see the Search panel to configure the directories it will search)
and bookmarked videos (videos that were added "by hand").

I'll close that as a duplicate of bug 725337 which will rename the recent view.
