Description Jean-Alexandre Anglès d'Auriac 2014-04-18 00:40:09 UTC
Evince windows should always show the close (X) button. However, when they are maximized, since the window decoration disappear and the toolbar does not include it, the only ways to close an Evince becomes keyboard shortcuts and the wheel menu. This is inconsistent with every other Gnome application.

I can also confirm this bug. (v3.12.1) It's rather annoying since it isn't following the rest of the Gnome Apps using the Gnome UX design. (Cheese, Disks, Gedit, System Monitor, etc; are all behaving as normal.)

You can unmaximize the window, or click on the "Files Options" button to access the "Close" option. But not having the standard close (X) button in the corner when maximized is becoming inconvenient.

Thanks for taking time to report an issue.

Applications that show the close button in the toolbar use GtkHeaderBar. There is already a bug for that. So, I am closing this one as duplicated of Bug 711078

FWIW, Evince has never shown the close button, therefore, "do not show the close(X) button anymore" does not really fit with Evince.
