Description msaavedra 2002-02-27 07:46:38 UTC
When using an edge panel, there is an area a few pixels wide along the
outer edge that seems to have no purpose. For example, if I put a window
list on an edge panel on the bottom of the screen, the window list doesn't
extend all the way to the bottom. It is much better to have the window list
accept mouse clicks on the bottom edge, since this is a very easy target to
hit. Note that the menu panel implements this correctly; the edge panel
should behave in the same manner. Also note that in Gnome 1.4 and earlier,
there was an option to do this sort of thing, but it isn't in the 2.0 beta.
Is there any reason that this should even be an option? I can't see any
downside to simply getting rid of the extra space, no option necessary.

Hrm. Yeah, this used to work in g1.4; really should work now.

This is not a duplicate of the aformentioned bug, Gediminas. That is
an issue specific to the window list applet. Mine is a panel problem,
I was only using the window list as an example, hence the confusion.
This bug is basically that the "Make buttons flush with panel edge"
behaviour is missing in the edge panel, but not the menu panel. I was
further arguing that this option should be the default (even the only)
behavior, since the current behaviour offers no advantages. Sorry for
the confusion. I believe that louie@ximian.com knows what I'm talking
about. Maybe he could give a better explanation if you need one.

i'm not seeing this in sun's build11 - cvs oct 1st. i created an edge
panel and added the window list applet - i don't see any padding
between applet and panel edges - will attach a screenshot - can you
tell me if i am correct in my assessment or is the bug something else
(steps to reproduce with expected result at each step would be cool)
