Can you please run 'rhythmbox -D player' in a terminal, reproduce the crash, gather the output and attach it here?

rhythmbox -D player output

Started with empty database. Import 76 ogg files. Attempt to play first ogg file - shows red minus. Attempt to play next ogg file - crashes.

I saw another bug report about new versions of rhythmbox crashing on filenames beginning with a number - that could be related. The first file name is: 01-Prelude - Suite Bergamasque (C Debussy)-Daniel Estrem.ogg

However, on a different computer (F21 desktop), rhythmbox works ok with already imported ogg and mp3 files, even beginning with a number. So maybe only importing is broken, and corrupts memory.
Comment 5 Stuart D Gathman 2015-01-29 00:58:29 UTC
Version in F21: rhythmbox-3.1-1.fc21.i686
For both boxes I tested.
Comment 6 Stuart D Gathman 2015-01-29 01:00:28 UTC
Previous version in F20 that works (importing, playing, etc):
rhythmbox-3.0.3-1.fc20.i686

This looks significant:

(19:35:53) [0x83a5ba0] [rb_shell_player_error] rb-shell-player.c:2443: playback error while playing: Failed to create autoaudiosink element; check your GStreamer installation

What gstreamer packages do you have installed?

Whatever that bug really is, it's nothing to do with filenames.

As reported in the downstream bug, other players, including hovering over file in caja, and audacious work just fine. Maybe they don't use gstreamer? xmms also works - but I know that doesn't use gstreamer.

gstreamer-0.10.36-11.fc21.i686
gstreamer1-1.4.4-1.fc21.i686

gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.36-12.fc21.i686
gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.31-13.fc21.i686
gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.19-18.fc21.i686

It seems that audacious also uses gstreamer, as does caja. xmms and vlc do not. All four of those work.
