I tried to install pitivi - a 1 appeared in the installed tab. Then I canceled the polkit dialog, and the one stuck around. Later, I tried installing it again, bringing the number to 2. After that install completed, the number went back down to 1.

So, we seem to lose track of canceled / unsuccessful install attempts.
