Description Volker Sobek (weld) 2014-03-22 13:31:10 UTC
If you happen to have the kde telepathy packages installed (and are *NOT* running a kde but a normal gnome-shell session), each time you join a room in polari (for example on irc.gnome.org) you get fancy kde popup dialog from the 'KDE Wallet System' that the 'Telepathy Authentication Handler' wants to open/create the wallet 'kdewallet' -- Thank you very much, but I'm in a gnome session!
Comment 1 Volker Sobek (weld) 2014-03-22 14:24:04 UTC
Just noticed that happens when using empathy as well, looks like this is a telepathy issue/bug...
Comment 2 Giovanni Campagna 2014-03-24 09:07:12 UTC
More likely, this is a local configuration issue. kwallet and gnome-keyring-daemon both offer the org.freedesktop.secret1 service, so you need to make sure that the bus autostarts the right service.
Comment 3 Volker Sobek (weld) 2014-03-25 12:07:48 UTC
Hm, I don't understand why it starts another secret service despite the fact that gnome-keyring-daemon is already running, doesn't that already offer that service?

It depends. gnome-keyring-daemon can be running in several modes, and is usually started in a reduced mode by pam, with the other components started from dbus or autostart.

I'm not able to replicate this issue. I have tried with GNOME 3.22 on ArchLinux with 'Telepathy Authentication Handler'. Polari starts gnome-keyring-daemon if it is not running, even then KWallet is install and running. Polari has the same behavior if running in KDE/Plasma 5.8.4.
Comment 6 André Klapper 2021-06-10 11:05:00 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Polari, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/polari/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
