Description Trung Ngo 2014-03-12 14:36:28 UTC
The no echo mode is often used to type password or to implement interactive console applications. Therefore we should notify IMEs to stop processing (and stop showing the preediting text of my password) in this mode.

We can do this by setting the "input-purpose" property of GtkIMContext to GTK_INPUT_PURPOSE_PASSWORD.

Sounds ok to me.
Comment 2 Egmont Koblinger 2015-09-21 20:15:11 UTC
We should watch for (icanon + no echo). No echo on its own is used by all fullscreen and readline apps all the time.

Linking back to bug 755371 as ChPe pointed out it's relevant.
