GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 725465
Rerender default theme icons at 2x resolution for HiDPI
Last modified: 2014-10-21 22:20:15 UTC
The default theme icons are much too small for newer HiDPI/"Retina" displays that use a 2x scaling factor over more traditional displays. Icons need to be re-rendered at twice the size for HiDPI; where they're not already SVG-based they may need to be redrawn. See bug 725263 for gtk3-port branch proper HiDPI issues... See bug 725464 for gtk2 theme workaround for gimp-2.9 (gtk2 doesn't scale everything automatically)
Maybe it would a good idea to add this info to the wiki as well and reach out to the GNOME design community who might be able to help with this issue.
As said in bug 725464, we will not do any HiDPI changes in GIMP 2.x, and there is bug 725263 about the gtk3-port branch.
