Description Tomasz Struczyński 2014-02-20 11:11:25 UTC
This bug is also created for Ubuntu - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1235472 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1195276 .

When the new message arrives in Empathy, the message icon in Ubuntu flashes blue and the notification is shown. But when user clicks on notification, the chat window opened does not show the message. The window title is then "-X unread message(s)".

In most cases the message is shown in previous messages block. But the expected behavior is to be shown in chat window.

Ubuntu 14.04.1 64bit
Empathy amd64 3.12.7-0ubuntu1+trusty1 from Gnome ppa https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3-staging
Bug NOT fixed.

Changing to another theme (Boxes, Clean) fixed the problem.

I think this is a duplicate of
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662672

It has already been fixed.

For Ubuntu users, update to 14.04.1 LTS (so that you use empathy 3.8.6-0ubuntu9.1).

I still see this issue occasionally using Empathy 3.12.7 on Fedora 21.

According to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662672 the fix (https://git.gnome.org/browse/empathy/commit/?id=3483e7f97ed6d20427672fe68ef03a36ddedda47) was included in versions 3.8, 3.10 and 3.12, yet I still see the problem in 3.12.7 and evidently I'm not the only one.

I agree that it sounds like the same bug; in which case I wonder whether we're now experiencing a regression.
