GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 724449
Consider featuring Gnote instead of Tomboy
Last modified: 2014-03-11 14:47:39 UTC
Gnote is a fork of Tomboy which functions more or less identically, but: * Gnote is GTK+ 3 and has been for years, whereas Tomboy is still GTK+ 2. * Gnote uses GNOME 3 style notifications. Tomboy lives in the system tray by default, and its notification icon uses a GNOME 2-style menu. * Gnote has a header bar. * Gnote has had upstream appdata for months. I don't *think* Tomboy does. And so on and so forth. I just don't think it makes sense to feature an app that is not well-integrated with GNOME, when there's an essentially-identical alternative that is. (They even use the same desktop icon.) There's also Bijiben (aka Notes). It's arguable whether that app is yet useful enough to be featured, though.
Notes is probably the one to feature out of the three.
