If gstreamer-1.2 is not installed people get:
 ./clutter-gst-video-sink.c:151:48: error: 'GST_CAPS_FEATURE_META_GST_VIDEO_GL_TEXTURE_UPLOAD_META' undeclared here (not in a function)

Due:
$ grep -r GST_CAPS_FEATURE_META_GST_VIDEO_GL_TEXTURE_UPLOAD_META *
clutter-gst/clutter-gst-video-sink.c:    GST_CAPS_FEATURE_META_GST_VIDEO_GL_TEXTURE_UPLOAD_META, \

That was added in gstreamer 1.2
