GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 723843
List view looks messy
Last modified: 2018-02-01 19:23:18 UTC
Created attachment 268394 [details] screenshot See the attached screenshot: * The thumbnails/icons are too big, and don't have enough padding between them. * The text is on multiple lines, which isn't always aligned. It's not that far from being good, but in the current state it is quite hard to read. Here's the original mockup - https://raw.github.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/documents/documents-list-view.png As a side note - I think we'd be better off having separators between each row (as in https://wiki.gnome.org/Design/Whiteboards/ListStyles ), but that's maybe something for another time.
Main changes required for this bug: * Smaller thumbnails. * Move the author field to a separate column and vertically align the text for each item.
I've updated the mockup to follow the latest design guidance: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/documents/documents-list-view.png The main difference is the addition of separators between rows.
Adding this bug to the target list for GNOME 3.16. See desktop-devel-list for more discussion about this.
Has any progress been made here? If not, this might not be a 3.16 "GNOME Target" as we are under UI Freeze for 3.16 now.
(In reply to André Klapper from comment #4) > Has any progress been made here? Unfortunately, no. :( > If not, this might not be a 3.16 "GNOME Target" as we are under UI Freeze > for 3.16 now. 3.18 then?
[Removing outdated "GNOME target" value.]
Should it also center the items, like it does in the Songs view in GNOME Music?
That means having a max width of the list that stays the same, regardless of window size.
