Description Geert Janssens 2014-01-21 10:19:07 UTC
Quote from bug 712278:
A couple of things to note re windows 8 installs.

The menu items may not turn up grouped depending on how you have your menu
arranged. When going to the apps menu, you need to have them arranged by
Category for the install online price retrieval menu to show up under GNUcash.

And along the same lines, perhaps it would be handy to rename the link,
"GNUcash Online price retrieval install" so when you do search GNUcash it will
show up in your search list. The same would apply for the other links.(using
Windows key, then search function which is how a lot of folk launch apps and
programs)

Small things but as a new Windows 8 user, are sometimes not immediately
obvious.:-)

None of the active GnuCash developers has access to a Windows 8 installation. So unfortunately I don't know of it possible to group the menu entries together.

This we can do and would probably be useful.

This will be fixed for English, Dutch, German and French installs in gnucash 2.6.6.
Those are the languages I more or less understand. For the other languages
we need help from translators in those languages.

Geert, where is the commit?
Comment 4 Geert Janssens 2015-03-21 13:54:40 UTC
In the gnucash-on-windows git repository, commit 15b363adc07f900e73a7f97ddf68c56204df90ca

Oops, until now I had not realized, packaging/win32 had moved in it's own repo.

Can you add it to
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Git#What_has_that_to_do_with_Gnucash.3F or similar places like http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Eclipse#Initial_steps
* Same access like the other repos?
* Type of build system
:

and update
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Translation#How_to_translate_the_Windows_Installer

I am not shure, if we should reference in other places.
