Description kynikos 2014-01-15 10:16:59 UTC
Bookmarks are set in Menu bookmarks (but you cant add one there) and in rightclick add bookmark.

Expected: add AND remove bookmarks (including the entries of the home dir) by dragging in or out. (Possibly while holding alt or some key, if you like locking security).
Drag and Drop is a widely used paradigm. This matches the behaviour of the dock and various other core bars. As well as that it removes the non-intuitive need of 100 explanations and bugs about bookmarks and their 5 menus.
This goes along with #703598 and various others.

Please let us decide, which bookmarks we need - why would you fix some?
There are reports about not enough space - this would be less crucial with less entries.

The Bookmarks editor was dropped. Now bookmarks are managed by right clicking on the sidebar, all in the same place.

This concern is covered by bug 701469.

I'm changing the title of this report to focus on this suggestion.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
