GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 721963
Sort list of WiFis by something
Last modified: 2021-07-05 14:28:26 UTC
In Fedora 20, "Wifi Networks > Select a network" seems to list completely randomly (at least ignores anything I could come up with, like signal strength or alphabet) networks around. It doesn't support type-ahead either, so in worst case I have to scroll&read through the entire damn list to find the network I'd like to connect to.
We sort like so: * Networks that you've connected to before go above ones that you haven't * Stronger networks go before weaker ones * Secure networks come before unsecured networks * Sort networks alphabetically by their SSID
Hmm. Either that was totally not obvious in my case, or it didn't work. I'll keep an eye on this.
Created attachment 294727 [details] Screenshot (In reply to comment #1) > We sort like so: > * Networks that you've connected to before go above ones that you haven't > * Stronger networks go before weaker ones > * Secure networks come before unsecured networks Not always - Network without lock symbol is shown before networks with lock symbol; see screenshots. gnome-shell-3.14.3-1.fc21.i686; I was connect to my home wifi when triggering this dialog.
that's still an issue in 3.26, the aps are not sorted by signal strength at least and sometime a wifi which was never user is listed before the one used daily which is currently connected
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
