GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 721853
Gnote is closed after clicking on a file path with middle mouse button
Last modified: 2014-01-11 13:41:43 UTC
How to reproduce: 1. In note write some path, e.g. 1.a /usr/bin or 1.b /home/user/sth.txt. 2. Middle click on the link (there's not point in doing this intentionally, but sometimes you do it by accident and nothing bad should happen in that case). 3. The results is that 3.a Gnote app gets closed 3.b A dialog window opens saying that location cannot be opened and then Gnote app gets closed. The desired behaviour would probably be to do the same thing as when clicked with left mouse button. I'm using Gnote 3.8.1 in Fedora 19. This bug is probably related to 721852.
Another related bug: 721854.
Unlike in bug 721852, no message about failed assertion is emmited to terminal in this case, that's why I opened a separate bug for this.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it. Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so (and installing debug packages). Thanks in advance!
There is no stack trace, the program exits normally as indicated by line "[Inferior 1 (process 5395) exited normally]" in gdb output below: miha@sluzba:~$ gdb gnote GNU gdb (GDB) Fedora 7.6.1-46.fc19 Copyright (C) 2013 Free Software Foundation, Inc. I don't get crash, but window closes, which should not happen.
Fixed with Bug 721852. It affected all types of links. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 721852 ***
