As we are aware that gitg requires libgit2 to be built with threadsafe being enabled, it would be beneficial to 'fail early' in the process, advising that libgit should be built with threadsafe=on.

Not strictly nescessary, but surely less frustrating for everybody, if the failure is not only seen during runtime of gitg.
