GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 721252
List view: scrolling in a folder containing files with thumbnails leaks memory
Last modified: 2021-06-18 15:48:43 UTC
Seen in ubuntu 13.10, nautilus 3.8 ubuntu 14.04 nautilus 3.8, 3.10 fedora 20 nautilus 3.10 Test case:
Test case: open a folder in list view that is scrollable & contains mainly thumbnailed files, a well populated Videos folder will do. scroll up & down, each scroll up & dn will increase nautilus mem use by 1-3 MiB
Created attachment 265059 [details] log of mem increase reflects scrolling up/dn every 3-4 secs & closing re-opening nautilus 2 times during the course of log, (60 sec.'s
The same can be seen with nemo so maybe this is a gtk3 issue?
(In reply to comment #2) > Created an attachment (id=265059) [details] > log of mem increase Please provide a valgrind log.
Created attachment 265141 [details] requested reflects 3-4 scroll up/dn
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
