Upon upgrading to MacOS Mavericks, when I try to type text in Gimp (Layer name, File Names, and even using the text tool), GIMP thinks I'm pressing keyboard shortcuts. I've gone in to preferences and disabled all keyboard shortcuts but to no avail. In addition, I've tried other versions up to 2.8.8 and experienced the same issue. This prevents me from using any text tools (or text boxes) in GIMP as they cannot be focused on properly when I click my mouse in the text box. Help!

This is fixed with the latest gimp version, you should update to 2.8.10:
http://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.8/osx/gimp-2.8.10-dmg-1.dmg
