Make a diff between autogen.sh from, say, -good, and -gl, and you'll see the difference.
Specifically, the way it applies a patch makes it fail to configure with the following message:
configure: error: DOMAIN in po/Makevars does not match GETTEXT_PACKAGE gst-plugins-gl-1.0

The fact that it applies the patch is not the cause of this error.

Anyway, fixed:
