GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 720871
Irish cities (umbrella bug)
Last modified: 2014-02-02 15:49:18 UTC
Ireland currently has Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Dunleary, Glentavraun. Not nearly enought. At least first 20 of those have to be added: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_urban_areas_in_the_Republic_of_Ireland_by_population The list contains links to individual cities with their coordinates (I can extract and attach here) I know the population of those places is small (in your rules, you mention 100K) - but if you do not list relatively small cities/towns in Ireland, you'll end with just Dublin and Cork, which is absolutely unacceptable.
Alternatively (or additionally), at least capitals of Irish counties can be listed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counties_of_Ireland
Created attachment 264730 [details] List of major towns, with closest airports
Created attachment 264731 [details] List of airports, with coordinates
Created attachment 264732 [details] The script that combines both lists
Created attachment 264733 [details] The resulting xml, can be directly added to Locations.xml.in (instead of existing Irish section).
I attached the XML that can be directly put into Locations.xml. Please commit. It contains 34 locations in ireland, referencing 11 airports. Checked with gnome-shell weather extension, works ok. If you need more data to be put to XML - pls let me know.
Note: The locations are only for ROI. NI is not inclided
Thanks for the huge work you put into this! This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Thank you for your bug report.
welcome:)
