Description Žygimantas Beručka 2013-12-06 17:29:35 UTC
Sound-Recorder 3.4.0 does not record upon pressing the record button. When I run it from the terminal and press the record button, there's only a warning printed out:

(gnome-sound-recorder:25704): GStreamer-WARNING **: Element 'gconfaudiosource' already has parent

GStreamer Core Library version is 0.10.36.

I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 with GNOME 3.8 on Ubuntu, but this bug exists both in 13.04 and, it is argued, and staging. This bug has reported on Launchpad for ages but so far no one dared to find a solution.

Any ideas how to deal with it?

gnome-media has been obsolete since the release of GNOME 3, nearly 4 years ago. Furthermore, the gnome-sound-recorder program in gnome-media has been replaced by the stand-alone, rewritten, gnome-sound-recorder program which has a different interface.

The new program should not be affected by the bugs you filed, however, please make sure to file new bugs against the gnome-sound-recorder product.
