Description Diogo Campos 2013-12-01 17:07:32 UTC
Certainly there are (and/or there will be) users out there who do not even know (and/or don't will know) that the "Super Key" activates the "Activities Overview". So they probably not know (and/or will not know) how to activate the "Message Tray".

Since "MT" has informations (and even actions) importants, they should be (more) easily visible to the average user.

So, I propose here a discussion about the need to introduce a strong visual cue that makes reference to the visualization of "MT" (or even her inclusion in the "AO" - after all, if it is an "overview", it is there for this).

OBS #1: I know this has changed recently, just don't think it's ideal, especially to the average user.

OBS #2: As I think "AO" should be *THE* place to go. *ALWAYS*. (to simplify things, of course). I vote for the inclusion of the "MT" in "AO", and for the exclusion of the "MT" in "Not AO".

OBS #3: Please, don't get me wrong. It's not a selfish desire thing. It's a attempt to make GNOME (more) usable for (my) Mommy(s), Friend(s) and other Normal People. The rule is simple: they don't see nothing that the screen don't shows (and me neither :P).

Google Translator corrected me: "They see nothing that the screen does not show".
I'm so sorry for the (HORRIBLE!) English...

Lots of users (including me) wanna see notifications in activity overview:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/404055/always-show-notifications-in-activity-overview-gnome-shell-3-10

> I want the notification bar to be always shown when I use activity overview.

> I would see if there is notifications when I am using activity overview to switch programs.

Maybe there is some setting or extension which could bring back old Activities Overview behavior?

Pre 3.6 behavior is preferable. The "overview" is not really an overview anymore without messages/notifications

I think this is fixed with 3.15.90.
Can I close this one?
