GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 714736
select Inboxes branch inbox if available from notification
Last modified: 2019-04-14 11:46:21 UTC
---- Reported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-04-08 15:01:00 -0700 ---- Original Redmine bug id: 6781 Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6781 Searchable id: yorba-bug-6781 Original author: Charles Lindsay Original description: Now, when you for example click a Geary inbox in the messaging menu, it always selects the inbox under the account branch. If the user has multiple accounts, and thus has the Inboxes branch, we should select the inbox under it instead. The same probably applies for all types of notification. ---- Additional Comments From geary-maint@gnome.bugs 2013-10-03 17:52:00 -0700 ---- ### History #### #1 Updated by Charles Lindsay 8 months ago * **Description** updated (diff) Phrasing. #### #2 Updated by Charles Lindsay about 1 month ago * **Target version** changed from _0.4.0_ to _0.5.0_ --- Bug imported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-11-21 23:11 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 6781 at http://redmine.yorba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6781 Unknown milestone "unknown in product geary. If I understand correctly, Charles says that when you click on a message notification, if you have multiple accounts, Geary will open account>inbox instead of inbox>account (which is upper on the left sidebar). It seems reasonable, but I cannot reproduce it since at the moment when I click on a notification nothing happens. See also this comment: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=776881#c3
Actually, I can reproduce it. It was not obvious, since clicking on notification does not bring the focus on Geary so I thought that it did nothing. Easy steps to reproduce it: - launch Geary, open one of the Inbox>Account folders - send an email from a browser to an account you have in Geary - keep the focus on the browser until you see the notification - click on it (single or double-click doesn't seem to make a difference) Switch to Geary and you'll see that changed from the Inbox>Account folder to the Account>Inbox folder. Don't know if bug #766133 (port to GNotification) may help with this.
By the way, this problem may be solved if the new sidebar design (which removes the account branch/inbox branch "duplication") is implemented: bug 730712
Yup, won't get solved before then so marking as a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 730712 ***
