Description Charles Lindsay 2013-11-21 20:26:47 UTC

---- Reported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-04-18 11:03:00 -0700 ----

Original Redmine bug id: 6829
Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6829
Searchable id: yorba-bug-6829
Original author: Charles Lindsay
Original description:

We had a launchpad request (https://bugs.launchpad.net/geary/+bug/1170181) for
checkboxes in the conversation list, to make multiple selection easier.

There are a lot of open questions about how the design would look and work
that we'd need to iron out before starting on this.

A agree that Ctrl+Click is becoming less and less known (and isn't intuitive).
Would doing a GNOME 3-style selection mode make sense here? Or would it make
more sense to go Gmail-style and put a check on the left side of each mail?

What's a Gnome 3 style selection mode?

It's a newer bit of their HIG and is showing up in their default apps.

https://live.gnome.org/Design/HIG/SelectionMode

https://live.gnome.org/Design/Apps/Contacts (Ctrl +F for selection mode)

I'm not saying it's a good or bad idea, just mentioning it. ;)

Moving to GtkListBox (bug #720850) would make a lot of sense for this one.

Resolving as obsolete all bugs that should be resolved by the conversation list redesign (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730682). I'd mark them as a duplicate, but bz won't let me :(

Apologies for the noise.
