Original description:

Search for something with lots of results. Click on a message in the search
results. Mark it as spam from the toolbar. Nothing happens -- the message is
never marked as spam, even if you verify in webmail. Tested on a gmail
account.

Although this bug predates Bug 721989, it's basically the same thing, and there's some additional comments over there, so marking as a duplicate of that.
