Description GS 2013-11-18 10:08:13 UTC
Hello

Can you please allow File>Export to write XCF file.

The following dialog is absolutly unfriendly:

"You can use this dialog to export to various file formats. If you want to save the image to the GIMP XCF format, use File→Save instead."

If I am in the Export dialog, and finally choose the XCF format, please avoid making me loose the current directory where I was and make me go in File>Save instead. Just allow to export in XCF.

For me: export = save + don't "adapt" current opened file in this format
Save as = save + "adapt" current opened file in this format.

For instance if I export in jpg, the image has been flatten, but after that the layers are still here in my opened image. If I wanted to save it in jpg, the layers would have been lost lost (like if it has been reopened afterward). That's easy, straight and user friendly. The current behavior of the export dialog is not user friendly.

Thanks you very for this good software, and I hope this will help you.

2.8.10 will allow you to jump from that warning directly to that directory
in the save dialog. We will however not remove the warning dialog.

This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Thank you for your bug report.
