Description christian.weinz 2013-11-15 18:48:28 UTC
Dear maintainer,

in section "Getting GNOME 3.10" of the website [1] one can read:
"GNOME's software is Free Software: all our code is available for download and can be freely modified and redistributed.".

It is not clarified what "can be freely modified and redistributed" means. Note: (L)GPLvX-licensed work can not be freely modified and redistributed. The family of GPL licenses gives strict and clear legal restrictions on how to redistribute the licensed work.

I propose changing the line to "GNOME's software is Free Software: all our code is available for download and can be freely modified and redistributed according to the respective license(s)." for future GNOME releases.

Best regards,
Christian Weinz

I was missing a better component for release-notes when recommending this Bugzilla product...
This could be 3.12 stuff, CC'ing Allan.

I change my proposal to "GNOME's software is Free Software: all our code is available for download and can be modified and redistributed according to the respective license(s).".

Still valid for 3.18.

Transferred to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/release-notes/issues/4 as that is now the dedicated place for release-notes related tasks.
