Description Antoine Saroufim 2013-11-14 19:09:45 UTC
Monitoring the network bandwidth can be quite necessary in a work setting or at home. Not every part of the world has a very high speed internet or even an unlimited one. Sometimes, certain apps might misbehave and start abusing the bandwidth. System monitors on other operating systems offer similar features. Nethogs, on Linux, can display bandwidth consumption per-app, at a given time and cumulatively from the moment nethogs is initiated. However, Nethogs is a terminal application with CLI and not a GUI. It would be a big plus if gnome-system-monitor would use a backend similar to nethogs (or nethogs itself) to display such information within its GUI.
