This issue has been introduced by the feature to assign colours to registers. At that point an event box has been added to the register tabs, for which a colour is set in code. Perhaps it's possible to use no colour at all instead of using the system colour if no colour is explicitly set for a register and other tabs ?

This problem has been fixed in our software repository (commit 0a394c5bba98b54011777668f3f8226b5962af6c).

The fix will go into the next software release (2.6.4). Thank you for your bug report.
