When I'm editing an HTML document, if I type "doctype" and press Tab then nothing happens.

Perhaps the problem is that there are several predefined "doctype" snippets and gedit doesn't know which one to choose.  If that is the problem, I think we should simply remove the HTML 4 doctype snippets.  Pretty much everyone will be writing HTML 5 today anyway.
