I tried typing into the text tool in Gimp and it just randomly jumps to other tools in the toolbox.  I was using 2.8.2 and just found out about 2.8.4 and installed it and it still does the same thing.  I think it has to do with Apple's Mavericks OSX update because everything worked fine on OSX Lion, our previous version of the Mac OS
