Description Jonh Wendell 2013-10-11 23:15:05 UTC
how often do we change the nickname?

it's rare, I'd guess. so, why not remove that entry?
besides gain space, we'd avoid to click in there by mistake...

It depends - if you use your nickname to indicate status (nick-away, nick|lunch etc), then several times a day :-)

> besides gain space,

Not sure - I like how it acts as extension of the chat log ... if we indeed want to get rid of the entry, I'd probably replace it with a label rather than removing it altogether.

> we'd avoid to click in there by mistake...

Why is this bad? Click elsewhere, no harm done.

Still, let's get ui review on this.

The nick entry creates a symmetry between the chat log and chat entry - you see your nick in the same place that other people's nicks appear. It also allows us to make sure that the text entry box lines up with the messages above.

Personally I like the nick entry where it is.
