GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 709829
Login screen stays in progress when switching to the same user
Last modified: 2021-07-05 14:36:38 UTC
Reproducer: 1. Click on switch user (in upper right menu). 2. Login back to the same user 3. Try to switch user again Result: You'll got the login screen with login process in progress. When the original user has no password (automatic login for example on livecd) there is only shadow screen where you can do nothing. The same thing happens when all users are already logged. In the first case (normal user with password) you can click on 'cancel' and login as another user. In the second case (user without password) you can only switch to another display (ctrl+alt+Fx).
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
