Description Age Bosma (IRC: Forage) 2013-10-04 14:15:44 UTC
In addition to bug #700062, having Music become a UPnP control point and renderer in one to play music through UPnP, I'd love to see Music function as just a UPnP control point, controlling a renderer on the network. This would allow you to browse your music collection with Music and have it play the music on another UPnP device on the network instead of on the local PC.

Music would need to able to list all available UPnP renderers on the network in addition to itself and selecting that device as the playback/output device.

I think this would make a lot of sense, and we are aiming to do similar things with the Photos and Videos apps. In the future it would make sense to do this through a generic "sharing" feature, where sharing some music with a particular device would send it there for playback.

While we might want to wait for that sharing feature, it might make sense to have a simple UI for sending music to devices that have been discovered on the network.
