When a keyboard shortcut is used (such as Ctrl+N), the search field pops up. It really shouldn't! :)

That would be great if you could! I think it really should go in before 3.10

For now i'm fixing this now in master, commit 220781602980173d1275fe64d78d4a4941ff7891
It still possible to backport to 3.10
