Three inconsistent backgrounds.

Occasionally, when changing backgrounds, either manually, or in a slideshow, gnome-shell will stop agreeing with itself about what wallpaper is supposed to be displayed. I'll attach an image that shows the simultaneous state of several parts of the shell. The background shows one picture, the background in the overlay shows a second, and the background in the desktop previews shows a third. I don't have it in the picture, but the lock screen actually displays a fourth, different background.

Somewhat interestingly, this only applies to my primary monitor. I have two, and the secondary display consistently displays the red wallpaper in that screenshot in all modes (normal, overlay and lock screen).

This also seems to be a bad state for gnome-shell to be in. The slideshow transitioned as I was typing this, and it appeared to coincide with a lockup, requiring me to kill gnome-shell from a vty. After this, all backgrounds in the shell are in agreement.

This is in gnome-shell 3.8.4 running on Arch Linux.

I also have a part of described bug(?)

In my case I can normally change wallpapers 2-3 times after reboot.
Then the last wallpaper freezes on the overlay background, farther wallpaper changes are changing it on a desktop, lock screen, on desktop previews, but not on an overlay screen. Alt+F2-r is not resetting it. Only gdm reboot can help.

I have only one monitor, use gnome-shell 3.8.4 on Arch Linux

My screenshot is in the attachment also.

This looks like a duplicate of bug 710756 which got fixed in 3.14.1.

Please reopen this bug, or file a new one if you can still see problems in 3.14.1.
