Description David Carlson 2013-09-11 10:23:47 UTC
I'll bet this is only in the Windows OS. After editing a field in the register2 view of an account, hitting either the main keyboard Enter key or the numeric keypad Enter key only toggles between the two visual states of the current field.

To close the edit session it is necessary to either (1) tab through the entire transaction or (2) mouse click on the "Enter" button in the menu bar or (3) mouse click someplace outside of the transaction in the register2 view. Then the window to discard edits, cancel action or accept edits appears.

Interestingly, when the edit is accepted, the focus moves to the next transaction in the register2 view instead of staying with the freshly edited and accepted transaction. I think this action would be preferred by enough users (myself included) that it should be made a preference option.

This is when the register preference 'Enter' moves to blank transaction is not checked. In that case, the focus jumps to the end of the register and it is necessary to muddle back to wherever the user was to look at the next transaction. I would like to have an option to put the blank (new) transaction space next in the register2 view instead of at the end.

By the way, when that box is checked or unchecked there is a pregnant pause while the register window is refreshed. Not sure why the window needs refreshing at that point.
