GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 707852
Show applications button unresponsive
Last modified: 2014-09-23 08:57:56 UTC
This happens rarely, but when in overview mode, and I go to "Show Applications", button is not highlighted, and clicking on it doesn't work, If I click and hold on it it becomes highlighted but still doesn't function. Simple workaround for this is move mouse from button somewhere else (maybe needed to move it away from "Favorites bar") and return, and it works again. I see this bug on stable 3.8.x (latest in F19), and in 3.9.91 (on F20).
This is weird, but I found the way to reproduce this every time. go to top right corner (power, network, sound, user menu), click on it (once), move mouse cursor to the left side to Activities while user menu is still open, Activities becomes highlighted, click on it and go to Show applications button. (Actually with more testing when you click on any "menu" in top bar, and leave it opened, go to activities -> show applications, it is broken.)
Created attachment 255385 [details] [review] ActivitiesButton: close the dummy menu when activating the button We need to close the menu to make sure that any grabs held by the PopupMenuManager are released, and events are properly delivered.
Review of attachment 255385 [details] [review]: Tested this patch on 3.9.92 (f20), works for me ;-) (Thank you!)
Review of attachment 255385 [details] [review]: LGTM

Attachment 255385 [details] pushed as b9d935a - ActivitiesButton: close the dummy menu when activating the button
Same bug present again in 3.13.[91,92], open any menu in top panel date/time/calendar, users/power menu, or appmenu, click on activities, go to 'show applications', cannot click/open it.
