Description Dimitri 2013-08-22 21:02:09 UTC
If the network is loaded heavily, or simply slow, it may take a lot of time for Totem to show the GUI - up to 20 seconds in my case. Investigation shows that Totem hangs inside Magnatune Grilo plugin initialization code, which checks for network availability by an attempt to resolve www.magnatune.com.

I suggest that Grilo framework initialization could be performed from a dedicated thread, so that Totem can show the GUI and start playback immediately, especially when it's invoked from Nautilus with some media file on command line.

Or rather, grilo shouldn't hang on startup.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
