Description stuart.robbie5 2013-08-15 13:29:05 UTC
Hi, there is currently no entry for Ipswich in the United Kingdom. Please can this be added to your list of cities?

More info can be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipswich

Thanks

Does it have weather data available?
Comment 2 Giovanni Campagna 2013-08-18 14:22:21 UTC
And more specifically, could you provide the ICAO code of the nearest station, as well as the latitude and longitude of the city?

Thank you!

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. After a bit of digging, it turns out the nearest weather station is at Wattisham, which is included in the list of locations so I'm happy to use that, I don't know if you'd like to include Ipswich for others or not - I'm happy for this to be closed, but info requestes is below.

Ipswich info: 52.0700° N, 1.1400° E
ICAO:EGUW

thanks!

I'm afraid I'm not in the best position to chose if Ipswitch should be included or not, because I don't know the place in question.

Usually the rule is: larger than 100,000 inhabitants (which would be ok in this case) and not too close to another location in the database.

Ok, I guess it depends on whats too close. I think its about 16 miles away, but no-one in Ipswich would ever think to type Wattisham into the search box as its just a small place - it only had a population of around 100 in 2005. There is an airfield there, which I assume is where the weather info is being picked up from.
Comment 6 Giovanni Campagna 2013-08-18 21:55:42 UTC
Right. I guess that Ipswitch should marked as the city, and Wattisham as the actual weather location.
Will fix, thanks for your report!
