GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 703614
Add topics on installing and integrating applications
Last modified: 2018-03-26 14:31:32 UTC
Based on what is outlined on https://wiki.gnome.org/SysAdminGuide, add a number of topics on installing and integrating applications: icons desktop files mime types removable media default handlers help favorites
Hi all, I've created first drafts of a few of these pages. Could anybody have a look at it? I've pushed to the wip/system-admin-guide branch: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-user-docs/commit/?h=wip/system-admin-guide&id=8860f60787fd2fc87604b2cbc271c1499802e524 Thans, jana
How and where do you want to fit these into the guide? Please update your commit and resubmit.
Hello, I have fixed the group identification (as suggested by Kat) and edited the icons.page. I have pushed to the wip/system-admin-guide: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-user-docs/commit/?h=wip/system-admin-guide jana
The page still does not look related to what a system administrator would use or want to do. There is no defined goal associated with it. What is the reader trying to achieve and why? Please note that I will not accept patched patches to master: you will have to learn how to squash commits during an interactive rebase. I can show you how to do it if you find me at GUADEC in two weeks.
Hello Kat, Thank you for your comments and offer. I have created the wip branch to give myself some space and squash the commits in the final stage - when the pages are ready to be pushed to master. I have squashed commits many times now, so I believe I can do it myself. Thank you. Just one question: am I supposed to make separate squashed commitments for each page or to create a big one regarding all the 7 pages? These pages were created as "concept pages", "task pages" will follow as soon as Matthias Clasen comes up with a few topics for these. That was my idea... I know the order of events is usually vice versa; nevertheless, this process hopefully does not harm anybody. jana Btw. See you at GUADEC, I've subscribed as a volunteer :)

I suggest that we wait for these before proceeding with the review for the pages as they really need to tie into the guide to be merged to master. > Btw. See you at GUADEC, I've subscribed as a volunteer :) Great! Will you join us at the hackfest[1]? We'll be working on the sysadmin guide[2].
