Hidden files option doesn't work

Precondition:
Go to Home and create a hidden folder/file

Steps to reproduce:
1.Boot system
2.Open Files
3.Right click on Files (on top bar)
4.Go to Preferences->View
5.Check Show hidden and backup files 
6.Click Close
7.Go to Files -> Home
8.User is not able to see the previous created hidden folder/file.

Expected results:
User is able to see the hidden files

Actual results:
User is not able to see the hidden files using the Preferences option.
