GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 703421
[RFE] .exe files in File-Roller
Last modified: 2020-11-11 19:14:39 UTC
Currently, if .exe file is opened in File-Roller garbage will show up. Many distributions are using File-Roller as default application to open exe files, Linux newbies are often confused when window with incomprehensible folders/files names appears. It'll be better to show basic information about wine and one-click possibility to install it in case when any exe/msi(or other windows executables) file is opened.
Created attachment 306567 [details] [review] Remove exe association from .desktop Possible solution would be removing association for exe files and leaving this for os to handle.
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
