Review of attachment 247802 [details] [review]: This is rad, already pushed this one.
The accepted patch was pushed to master in https://git.gnome.org/browse/cantarell-fonts/commit/?id=bfc5a1fe29f40761b86bee699d0d93e42c5cf87d Is there any reason for keeping this particular bug open? If not, please close bug by marking as RESOLVED and FIXED.
If you'd read my comment above, I've explained that there will be iterative work on this bug. That is why it hasn't been resolved and fixed.

I noticed a particular spacing issue that seems to only happen with Cantarell (even though not 100% sure) when used in two of the most popular IDEs written in Java, IntelliJ IDEA and NetBeans, and figured this might be the right bug to report it. The issue is that when Cantarell is used in these IDEs as part of the DE settings, there's always a cut-off below the baseline of some letters, e.g "g" and "p", as shown in the attached screen-shots. To verify that this is not a particular issue with the IDE themselves, I also tried two other fonts, DejaVu Sans and Open Sans, and they seem to be just fine in this regard. I've attached screen-shots for both cases where I used Cantarell in one and Open Sans in another for easy comparison. For what it's worth, here's the details of my particular environment where this issue consistently occurs: Fedora 20 (up-to-date) GNOME Shell 3.10.4 IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 13.1.3 NetBeans IDE 8.0 JRE: Oracle Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_05-b13 Graphics: Gallium 0.4 on AMD CAPE VERDE System: Linux version 3.14.8-200.fc20.x86_64 running on amd64; UTF-8; en_US Font settings as read from the Tweak Tool: Hinting: Slight Anti-aliasing: RGBA Scaling factor: 1.0

@Abdussalam Abdurrahman: Metrics were wrong in the font, please try with master (https://git.gnome.org/browse/cantarell-fonts/).
While this may be an iterative bug, there have been various fixes to spacing over the years and at least the latin part is more or less stable if you ignore the unpublished respacing still sitting in the repo. As I'm working on a back-to-the-original redesign with extensive work on spacing (with the massive help of HT Letterspacer), I'm closing this one.
